Ashland (pop 22,000):

Located in the Rogue River valley at the foot of the Siskiyou and Cascade mountain range and home of the well known Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland is populated with quaint shops, fabulous restaurants, superb hotels, and romantic B&Bs. Friday Nov 23 at 5:00p the city begins its Festival of Light celebration with a parade and live street entertainment. Because this is such a popular weekend, I recommend booking your room early (see suggestions below).

Special Saturday Grande Ball Venue in Jacksonville, Oregon (pop 2200)

This year's Saturday Grande Tango Ball will held at the U.S. Bank Ballroom in historic Jacksonville, OR (30 minutes northeast of Ashland-map & directions). Nestled in rolling hillsides of evergreens, vineyards, and fruit orchards, this old gold mining town is home to the renowned Britt Festival, and is the entrance to the Applegate Valley Wine Country. It's one of the few towns designated as a National Historic Landmark. My suggestion is to take our free shuttle service on a british double-decker bus, enjoy a leisurely dinner downtown and then simply walk to the ballroom at the corner of California and 3rd Street. (Click here for bus schedule and guide to restaurants in Jacksonville.)
